This is a sampling of some of the publicly accessible web sites I have worked on.
Arevco LightingThe current version of www.arevco.ca was created for Arevco Lighting in 2004.
It displays over 140 products in its online catalog. Features include user-resizable images, related products, a shopping cart and a number of pages of information for customers.
A new version of the site is under
construction that will allow Arevco's employees to expand its catalog to hundreds of items and
update product information even more easily.
excess.org hosts a number of active open source projects and now features a “blog”-like interface with tags and RSS feeds. Django allows much of the source code from genericconsulting.ca to be shared with excess.org, reducing development time and maintenance of both sites.
The OCLUG web site has been migrated from a legacy PHP-based system to a new Django-based site. This site manages announcements, events, speakers and locations in a way that makes it much easier for volunteers to manage. It also now has an RSS feed for upcoming events.
There are a number of small new applications planned for this site including voting on tutorial topics and a system that will allow speakers to more easily update their biographies and talk descriptions.
“Ian stepped up to the plate on a time sensitive contract using software he'd not used before. He completed the task with flying colours, including training the clients on how to use this tool. I look forward to the pleasure of working with Ian in the future.
Top qualities: Great Results, Personable, Expert”
Kris Constable, Director
“Ian worked with Langu-EDGE Solutions Inc. on a federal government initiative for 3 brief but intense days. With limited time for training on the purpose of the whole project, Ian saw what needed to be done and got to work right away. [...] He delivered under a gruelingly tight time frame and with limited project resources to assist him. Ian is a highly skilled programmer. During the project, Ian worked at the client's office. Government staff and Langu-EDGE Solutions Inc. team members remarked on his professionalism and his highly developed skills as a programmer. I look forward to working with Ian on more projects in the future.”
